On Saturday 22nd January 2011 the IkamvaYouth branches are opening their doors and welcoming all interested learners, volunteers, and parents.

The Open Day is a chance for learners to meet other Ikamvanites who have been with the programme for the last year. They can talk with other learners, with volunteer tutors, with ex Ikamvanites who are now attending Universities, and with IkamvaYouth staff. Prospective Ikamvanites can get an idea about what we do, why we do it, and how we do it. A short film will be shown as well and give a glimpse into the lives of previous Ikamvanites.

We want you all to come along and be part of the day, and apply to be part of IkamvaYouth. The results we have achieved since establishment are amazing and 2010 matric results reflect this; IkamvaYouth’s learners, all of whom attend township public schools, achieved an 87% pass rate, with 52% Bachelor passes and 38% diploma passes. 36 distinctions were awarded.

If you want to take charge of your future and really make a change to your life and others come along to find out more. Application forms will be available to fill in on the day with help from IkamvaYouth, but can also be collected prior to or after the day from your nearest IkamvaYouth branch.  You can download the application and Indemnity forms here. application_form_jan_2011.pdf  indemnity_form_january_2011_1.pdfbut first please read the Information for learners document: infoforlearners_jan2011.pdf

This is also a great way for new volunteers to meet the learners and find out about the organisation. All are welcome, from any background. To be a tutor you do not need to be a teacher or trained tutor, we just want people with matric and enthusiastic about helping young people.  Please see our tutor page on the site and the application form https://ikamvayouth.org.www518.jnb1.host-h.net/programmes/tutoring/information-volunteers.

The IkamvaYouth team look forward to seeing many new and excited faces on Saturday morning!
