Buyisiwe Khumalo

KZN District Coodinator

Buyisiwe is a self-starter and a motivated young professional with expertise in Educational and Community development. She holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her great interest in educational and community development is subjective to being raised in a rural community where it was difficult to obtain knowledge on available opportunities for young people after completing matric. After experiencing challenges in getting to a Higher education institution, and overcoming the struggle of adapting to the environment, Buyisiwe saw the need to assist other students especially those from marginalized backgrounds to adapt and progress successfully within the institution of higher learning through mentorship, academic advising and curriculum advising. Buyisiwe has worked with learners from some marginalized areas as an initiative to support them achieve their post-matric dreams through mentoring, tutoring, career advising and coordinating career guidance days for them. She has also worked as a tutor, Academic Monitoring and Support Programme Coordinator and a tutor-trainer for the College of Humanities (Teaching and Learning Unit) in the University of KwaZulu-Natal.  Her other experiences include working as a researcher in the field of development studies, informal sector and academic monitoring and support department.
