IkamvaYouth is a township-based volunteer programme that gets learners out of poverty through education. The organisation exists to reduce inequality in South Africa, and its track record of matric results, access to post-school opportunities, and alumni success is proof that positive change is possible.
IkamvaYouth seeks to appoint an intern for Pretoria National Office, in Pretoria. The ideal candidate must be passionate about the power of education to transform lives and communities, and want to make a difference. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a by-youth for-youth educational movement that empowers young people to take their futures into their own hands. This position will report to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities, skills, and aptitudes required for this post include:
1. IY Asset Register and Insurance Tracking
  • Support development and tracking of IY’s asset register (ensuring that it is updated as assets are purchased and disposed of)
  • Ensure outdated and nonexistence assets are removed from the insurance policy in consultation with Technology coordinator.
  • Assist in ensuring that the branch staff update their Asset register as there are movements
2. Day to day Operations Support
  • Maintain a record of all IY Accounts with various service providers e.g Insurance, phone accounts etc.
  • Assist with the double checking if all the cost centres have uploaded the relevant supporting documents (receipts, invoices, learner, tutor and staff reimbursement on dropbox
  • Assist with account balance reconciliations monthly for various accounts.
3. Additional
  • Support internal Branch Audits
  • Ad-hoc support to the Finance team as needs arise
  • Help address finance -related queries from IY branch and national staff
  • Provide support to the Finance manager as needed

Skills and Competencies:
● Matric Certificate (Degree / Diploma advantageous)
● Minimum 1 year admin experience
● Telephone etiquette
● Computer literate
● Communication skills
 ● Good writing skills
● A can do attitude
Internship remuneration – R 2 500 Matric certificate
R 4 000 Degree/National Diploma
