Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2017

Women with No Filter – Celebrating leaders who honour themselves and others!

On the 7th of September 2017, seven learners from the Ebony Park and Ivory Park branches were given the opportunity by Coca Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) to attend the Businesswoman of the Year Awards which were held at the Sandton Convention Centre. The learners were very elated to be attending such a prestigious event. Accompanying the learners was the newest addition to the Ebony Park team, our Intern Rivoningo Rikhotso. CCBSA organised a shuttle to and from the event to pick up the attendees at the Ebony Park branch, excitement filled the shuttle all the way to Sandton.

Upon arrival, the learners were ushered to a waiting room at the Convention Centre as they awaited the commencement of the event. While waiting, they were offered food and drinks and were briefed on the tasks they were to perform which was forming a guard of honour for the nominees as they walked to the stage.

The theme for the awards was: Women with No Filter – Celebrating leaders who honour themselves and others. The learners were in awe of how successful the nominees are and were also amazed by the success stories as the nominees were being presented. It was an overall inspirational event and a life-changing experience for the learners as they aspire to one-day reach the level of success of the phenomenal women that were nominated.

The learners had this to say about the event:

“Businesswoman of the year awards event was an amazing experience and I learned a lot. I learnt that being a woman does not determine your thinking capacity. I am inspired to have a much broader thinking” – Lelethu Kotlolo

“I really enjoyed the background stories about the finalists and learned to never give up when I want to achieve my goals and aspirations”- Melanie Mathabatha

“The entertainment was one of the highlights of the event and also when we had the opportunity to welcome the nominees” - Ntombi Mokoena

“I have learned that as a girl I can open my own business and be a leader of my own and for me reach my goals I have to work hard. I was very inspired by the nominees” – Abigail Mashiyi

We do not only help them improve their marks but prepare them to be future leaders.
